I’m still doing my best to not buy too many books each month. My TBR isn’t exactly going down and there are so many books on my shelves that I’m really excited to read so I definitely don’t need to buy more. I actually only bought 3 books myself this month – and only 1 of them is a book I actually bought and paid for in September. However, I was lucky enough to receive quite a few books from publishers this month and I was kindly gifted some books by my parents and grandparents, bringing my total for the month to 14 books.
I am also trying to read books the month I receive/buy them. I’ve always prioritised ARCs but I’m working on reading as many of the books I acquire in a month the month that I receive them. It means my backlist will stay unread for a few more months, but at least I’m not perpetually adding to it with new books – or at least not as many. So, of the 14 books I received this month, I’ve read 9. I don’t think that’s too bad and I do aim to get to the others soon.
These are all the books I received in September:
Books marked with an * were kindly sent to me for review.
Books I Bought New
I bought the Goldsboro Edition of The Midnight Library by Matt Haig back in July and it finally arrived. I LOVE it – I’ve never owned a book with a slipcase before and I finally own a book that is signed by Matt Haig. I’m so glad I decided to order it.
My Fairyloot exclusive edition of A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Roseanne A. Brown, which I preordered back in June, also arrived this month. It was worth the wait as I love the green sprayed edges and it is also signed. I can’t wait to reread this as it is definitely one of my top books of the year!
Other Books I Bought New:
The Girl and the Ghost by Hanna Alkaf. I saw this on Twitter, thought the cover was cute and decided to pre-order it. I’m so glad I did as I read it as soon as it arrived and I absolutely loved it – another one of my favourites of the year!
Books I was Gifted
Punching the Air by Ibi Zoboi and Yusef Salaam
The Perfect Wife by J.P. Delaney
In the Full Light of the Sun by Clare Clark
The Roommates by Rachel Sargeant
Books I was Sent by Publishers
Who I Was With Her by Nita Tyndall* (HarperCollins)
Before the Coffee Gets Cold: Tales from the Café by Toshikazu Kawaguchi* (Picador)
The Gifts of Reading edited by Jennie Orchard* (Orion Books)
Fragile Monsters by Catherine Menon* (Viking Books)
The School of Life by Alain de Botton* (Viking Books)
Just Like You by Nick Hornby* (Viking Books)
How to Be Hopeful* (Elliot and Thompson)
And that’s it for this month. I really enjoyed the majority of the books I received and read this month and I’m looking forward to the others. I’m hoping for another small(ish) month of book buying in October so I can maybe bring my TBR down just a tad!
