Two months ago, I started writing haul blog posts as a way to keep myself accountable for the number of books I buy–and acquire through various other means–over a month.
I think it’s working.
I acquired 9 books this month. Much less than 21 (July) and 25 (June). And, of those 9, I’ve read 3 already, and intend to read at least 3 others in September. I also only bought secondhand this month, and nothing from Amazon. I am really trying to reduce the overall number of books I acquire in a month–because my tbr cannot cope, and neither can my poor bookshelves–as well as the number of books I buy from Amazon. I’d much rather shop secondhand or support companies such as Hive or Blackwell’s.

So, let’s get into the books I bought this month:
Books marked with an * were kindly sent to me for review.
Books I Bought Secondhand
From @book.and.a.brew on Instagram, I bought:
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng (which I’ve read and wanted a physical copy of)
Conjure Women by Afia Atakora
From @head_in_the_pages on Instagram, I bought:
Harley in the Sky by Akemi Dawn Bowman
A Kind of Spark by Elle McNicoll
The Binding by Bridget Collins
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson

From Depop, I bought:
Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah (which I read in August and loved)
Fly Away by Kristin Hannah (the sequel, which I aim to read in September)
Books I was Gifted
The BBC National Short Story Award 2019 edited by Nikki Bedi * (I also read this in August and really enjoyed it)
I’m hoping to buy about the same or maybe even less in September, but I don’t think I’ve done too badly this month. Do you keep track of how many books you buy each month? If you do, how many books did you acquire in August?

Such a great book haul! I really want to read Little Fires Everywhere someday soon and then binge the tv show 🙂

It’s amazing! And the tv show is also incredible! They changed a few bits but I liked the way it turned out!
