I don’t usually make monthly TBRs for the simple reason that I never stick to them. If I have a fixed set of books I must read in a specific timeframe, it won’t happen. All motivation to read said books evaporates as soon as it becomes something I have to do, rather than something I want to do. But, I do tend to do a couple of buddy reads each month, there are ARCs I need to read for release dates or blog tours, and I usually have an inkling as to a couple of other books I’d like to get to in the month. So, I don’t have a strict TBR, but I also don’t just read whatever I feel like all the time. And, sometimes, a book slips through the cracks and I either forget to read it entirely (buddy reads) or I read it at the last minute (ARCs) and I thought a TBR post would remind me of the books I need to read over the month without setting a scary deadline.
Buddy Reads

Half the World Away by Mike Gayle
I’m reading this with quite a few other bookstagrammers as part of the #perfectstrangersreadalong—a monthly buddy read hosted by the #fourteenperfectstrangers (which I am one of). Last month we read Firefly Lane, which I absolutely loved, and I’m very excited to read my first Mike Gayle book.
Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell
This is the first book club pick for my university book club, which I will be hosting this year. This is one of my most highly anticipated reads of the year, and I cannot wait to read it and discuss it with the rest of the group.
ARCs for Review *
* These books have been kindly #gifted to me by the publisher or author in exchange for an honest review.
I’m trying to reduce the number of ARCs, blog tours, and review requests I take on each month, especially in September and October as I adjust back to life at university, so I only have two books to read this month, and another one I’d like to get to, but can also read in October if needed.
Dear Hero by Alyssa Roat and Hope Bolinger
This book publishes on the 28th September 2020 and I am so excited to read the e-copy I received from the authors. It is a world in which villains and heroes can meet through the superhero equivalent of Tinder, and that was all I really needed to know!

When Life Gives You Mangoes by Kereen Getten
I am SO excited about this. I’m on the blog tour for this at the beginning of October, so there’s plenty of time, but I just really, really want to read it. If anyone has read my 15 Most Anticipated Reads blog post, you’ll know that this was on there. It’s a Middle-Grade mystery novel that sounds very cute, and I cannot wait to read it.
All About Us by Tom Ellen
This is a Netgalley e-ARC that I’ve neglected for some time because I think it’s a Christmassy romance and I requested it just after Christmas so I haven’t read it yet (that’s bad, I know). But, it publishes on the 15th October 2020, and I WILL read it before then.
Possibility Pile

A Kind of Spark by Elle McNicoll
We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
Create Dangerously by Albert Camus
Bloom by Kevin Panetta and Savanna Ganucheau
Fly Away by Kristin Hannah
This month I’ll be making some big decisions about which books I want to take with me to university. I’ll be going to uni towards the end of September and staying until the Christmas holidays, so I won’t be able to lug books by and forth on the train as and when I finish them. Instead, I think I’m going to pick about 30 books from as many genres as possible and hope that lasts me!
Are you doing any buddy reads this month? Or, are there any books you know you’ll be reading in September?

I’ve had Half a World Away on my tbr for so long and I’m determined to get it read by the end of the year! I’ve got quite a few blog tours and ARCs to read over the next few weeks/months but there’s so many good ones I’m quite looking forward to them all

It’s a historical fiction following Shakespeare’s wife and children, which doesn’t make it sound that exciting, but it really is 😂 I’m enjoying it so far!
