All My Unread Books

Around Christmas 2019, I made an Excel spreadsheet with all the books I own but haven’t read (and a separate one for all my read books), but I don’t keep up with it. I thought a better method would be to write down a list of all the unread books I currently have on my shelves and then go through it at the end of the year and see how many I read.

All of the unread books on my tbr

I made this list in April and added a couple of books I received in May, but it doesn’t include books I bought in May or the beginning of June. At the time I made this list, I had a total of 125 unread books on my shelves or book trolley. As well as a great way to track which books I have read, and how many books I’m buying vs. reading, I also think this will be a really great way to measure how my bookshelves change in terms of diversity. The majority of my unread books (and my read books too) are written by white authors. As the books I’m exposed to on Instagram and Twitter change, and I make a more conscious effort to buy books by BIPoC authors, I’m hoping my unread pile will look a lot more inclusive this time next year.

So, here are the books currently sat on my bookshelves:

      1. It has saaaaved me. I’m so forgetful and I would 100% buy the same book multiple times because I forgot I owned it if not for the organization system I use. (Plus, I like spreadsheets. Who doesn’t like spreadsheets??)

  1. What a great list of books! I have a google slides file for mine as well. I add a new page for each month so I can see what books I have had the longest with ease. As of right now I have 24 books on my Owned TBR, but about 8 or 9 on their way to me so it is going to bounce up again. I was actually thinking of doing a post of all my unread books as well because I am really trying to get down to somewhere between 0 -5 books this year. L
